Imaginary Anatomy

Imaginary Anatomy is a meditative illustration series that frees our most familiar internal elements by their inner nature, interlacing them with geometrical-shaped symbolism. And sometimes with thread and needle.

Created using hyper-detailed line art, each artwork reimagines anatomical forms as vessels containing surreal, self-contained universes—or depicts common fruits and vegetables as humanoid food with deeper stories to tell.

  • Created for the ephemeral Carrot Museum in Bruxelles, the “Carrot” piece combines ink on paper, papercut, and collage techniques for a rich textural experience.
  • “Coeur” is the first artwork of the series, born on paper and soon transposed into embroidery, which adds a tactile dimension to the visual.
  • “Lungs” came soon after: the A3-sized line artwork blends lines and shapes to the point where they come to life as separate entities, revealing their hidden magic
  • “Quince (and baby quince)” is perhaps the most intense of the series, a poetic reflection on growth and continuity. The fruit’s organic, nurturing nature remains, translated into an entirely different universe.

The series explores the interplay between what is physically within us and the boundless possibilities of imagination, while inviting a discussion on the profound meanings hidden in seemingly ordinary elements.
