The Toy Library

It was April 2024 when Giorgia, an ex-colleague and good friend of mine, asked me to help her build a P2P platform for her PhD case study in the circular economy of toys.

Having already identified Sharetribe as the technology to use, and being able to rely on her early research, it was a matter of weeks and The Toy Library was born.

The image above illustrates The Toy Library ecosystem: a network of like-minded parents sharing pre-loved toys through the digital platform and at local Swap&Play events. The Irish-based social enterprise operates at the intersection of climate action and social justice

The Toy Library has received ongoing support from local authorities (County and City Councils), public institutions, and organizations such as Rethink Ireland, Community Foundation Ireland, Cork Local Enterprise Office, CESCA (Cork Equal and Sustainable Communities Alliance), Advance CRT (funded by SFI), and University College Cork. Additionally, it was awarded the RDS Circular Economy Awards 2026 in the Emerging category.

Beyond managing their Sharetribe marketplace design and configuration, monitoring and analysing their data, and building their transactional email automation flows to improve digital engagement, I take pride in illustrating the social impact they create.
